A new star is rising! Toni Matilainen, who is the latest new comer in
military rifle team has shown hints of his competences. In EC-Weimar (GER)
he shot mighty good in standard rifle 300 metre and achieved with a result of 582 points a
bronze medal.
The winner of the event was Rajmond Debevec (SLO) with 588 and the second Thore Larsen
(NOR) 585.
Matilainen has his second year in the team and future is very promising.
His previous success was a bronze medal in small bore rifle prone in Junior Nordic
Championships in 2004 (Oslo, NOR).

The Finnish Military Shooting Team salutes Vebjorn Berg (NOR) due to his
excellent shooting in a mil rapid fire rifle in Plzen CZE. Our longterm friend
and outperforming shooter did today 583 points (197-191-195). The result is 5 points above
the standing world record (Vebjörn is sharing that with Stephen Goff, USA).

Jussi Puustinen on the top in Plzen CISM regional 2010.
Jussi Puustinen continued his good performances in Plzen Regional CISM
2010. Puustinen was the third in the standard rifle 3P individual event. He scored 581
(198-188-195) and in mil rapid fire rifle he was the 4th on a tie with Stian Bogar (NOR).
Bogar got 18 inner tens while Jussi had 9. Toni Matilainen, a debytant in
military events, did 573 (10., yesterday 579)in SR and in MRFP 531. Kari Pennanen
scored 570 (14., 572) in SR and MRFR 549. Juha Rutonen did get 553 (24.,
565) in SR and in MRFR 544.
In a team macth the Finnish rifle team was the second in SR and 3rd in MRFR.
Marko Räsänen was the best finnish pistol shooter when gained the 4th
place in centre fire and on second place in rapid fire. He scored 579 in MRFP and won the
silver medal in a shoot-off against Håkan Sjöberg (SWE) by 50 - 48.Ville
Nousiainen has improved his shooting and is doing better every time. In Plzen he
shot 569 in the centre fire and 574 in rapid fire.The other finns, Jorma Jäntti
shot 567 and 574; and Petri Ylinen 569 and 569.
The finnnish military pistol team was the second in centre fire and the gold medallists in
rapid fire.

Matti Viljakainen and Mikko Taussi were awarded a medal of
Finnish physical education and sport by the minister of culture, Stefan Wallin.
A proposal for the merit was done by the Finnish Officers Shooting Association.
These gentelmen were among other 19 shooters. Totally awards were given to 307 person.
After retiring from the army, Timo Taskinen, a former gunsmith of the
Finnish Military Shooting Team,
established a firm of his own. Now he is back in the core shooting business, when he and
Häme Regiment made
an outsourching contract to take care of the maintenance of weapons of all the military
athlete's groups,
like rifle shooters, pistol shooters, biathlonists and military pentathlons.

Matti Viljakainen,
the rifle coach of the FMST, was named as the best finnish military coach of the year
2009.
Matti was one asset for the victorious rifle team in World Military Shooting Championships
when Jussi Puustinen
took the gold medal in standard rifle (583) and the rifle team got silver in military
rapid fire rifle team match.
Furthermore the whole season was better than earlier years.
Kai
Jahnsson started the new shooting year with precision. In the Swedish
Cup, Sävjsö, Sweden,
he was elected as the best air pistol shooter due to his great results 577 (day 1), 580
and 578.
Jahnsson was 19 points ahead before danish Frans Sörensen (578, 568 and 570)
